Hollywood moves to Las Vegas this week cinemaconIt is the world’s largest annual conference for film industry professionals and media. The event, which focused on studio showcases, industry networking and exclusive trailer previews, brought big news for several high-profile literary adaptations.
ποΈ odyssey: The countdown to the hot Greek summer has officially begun, as Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s epic tale is set to be released on July 17. Nolan gives CinemaCon attendees an exclusive look extended footage Which included the first glimpse of the Trojan Horse and the Cyclops. Matt Damon plays Odysseus, Anne Hathaway plays Penelope and Tom Holland plays her son Telemachus. Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Jon Bernthal and Elliot Page round out the completely stacked cast, which also includes Charlize Theron as Helen of Troy.
π€ Clara and the Sun: Taika Waititi’s 2021 adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro Novel Told from the perspective of an “artificial friend”, the deal made headlines when announced In 2023, and we’ve been worrying about it ever since. Jenna Ortega plays Clara and Amy Adams plays the mother of the girl Clara helps. Sony Pictures revealed This film will be released in theaters this week on 23 October.
π Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum: Warner Bros. and New Line unveil cast in the next installment lord of the rings extended universe. Leading the spotlight is Jamie Dornan, who will have a bigger role to play as Strider (aka Aragorn), as Viggo Mortensen has declined to return to the role. Leo Woodall and Kate Winslet have joined the cast, with Lee Pace returning to his role as Thranduil. Ian McKellen and Elijah Wood will reprise their iconic roles as Gandalf and Frodo. The film is currently scheduled for release on December 17, 2027.
π₯ children of blood and bone:Paramount shared first look On footage from Tomi Adeyemi’s long-awaited adaptation Favorite YA Fantasy Novel. Although the teaser isn’t available online yet, there are plenty of reasons to be excited: The cast includes Cynthia Erivo, Idris Elba, Amandla Stenberg, Damson Idris, and Regina King, just to name a few. Adeyemi wrote the screenplay with Gina Prince-Bythewood, who also directed the film. It will be released on the big screen on January 15, 2027.
