It’s kind of fun. I love a good mystery involving an author’s true identity (remember everything around you Argyll? it was a lovely little time), and McFadden is the latest writer to shroud his true nature in mystery. I haven’t yet read any of his books, which have been up and down the recent bestseller lists, but I have to say, his Secret Author Identity Game is immaculate. Apparently, Sarah Cohen (her real name) is a doctor who specializes in brain disorders. To maintain privacy, she not only uses the McFadden pseudonym, but also a wig and glasses. Its so Besides, I like it. A++ disguise.

Inaugural James Patterson and Bookshop.org Awards

I’m always excited to see what Bookshop.org does next, and I have to say that their latest announcement is pretty wicked. They have partnered with James Patterson to honor the first full-length books published in the US in the past year.James Patterson and the Bookshop.org Awards. The awards remain true to Bookshop.org’s ethos by relying on booksellers for all nominations and selections. First winner of the award-reporter Written by Virginia Evans – is a historical novel that was really in the news last year. The runner-up for the award is Milo Todd’s trans WWII novel, lilac people.
